Low pressure advancing from the Plains states is now working its way through the Midwest, bringing rain and even some severe weather. While this system is forecast to reach central New York late on Monday, it should weaken by that point. What we’re expecting here is mainly cloud cover to start the day on Monday. By midday there’s a chance for scattered rain showers, which should become steadier and heavier by Monday night. Tuesday morning is the greatest chance for heavy downpours and possibly thunderstorms.

As the system approaches, winds will begin to shift from the south and allow milder air to enter the picture. We’re looking at a warmer and moister couple days ahead with temperatures reaching the low 70s. The cold front moves through Tuesday night and brings temperatures back into the mid 60s. The storm lingers to our east though, and moisture sticks around enough to call for chances for scattered rain on Wednesday. By Thursday afternoon we can expect to see a return of sunshine.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, dry air settles in for Friday, allowing for plenty of sunshine. The next system approaches late on Saturday and may drop off a few late weekend rain showers, but as of right now it’s not looking all that potent. We’ll keep you updated here.
