Corrections Officer attacked by inmate
Watertown -- An inmate of the Jefferson County jail has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a corrections officer earlier this month.
Sheriff's officials allege that 34 year old Michael Williams of Watertown assaulted and put Officer James Gayne in a choke hold in an incident that occurred at the jail back on October 5. Gayne suffered two lacerations to his head, as well as a laceration and swelling to his right elbow. He was unable to perform his duties as a result. Williams is charged with second degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing.
He was arraigned and ordered back to the jail on bail.
