Watertown (WTNY) -- Jefferson County will be looking to the New York State Attorney General's Office for help in investigating the Sheriff's Department.

During a special session of the Board of Legislators Tuesday night, officials agreed to ask the AG's Public Integrity Bureau to look into the department, specifically the case of Deputy Adam Hallett. Hallett was found passed out in his patrol car while off duty in Henderson on December 1st.

Two reports on the matter were released last week, one by Sheriff John Burns while the other was penned by County Attorney David Paulson. The reports state that a open container of whiskey was in the patrol car and had been disposed of by a responding deputy. The reports also differ from each other in some areas.

A formal request to the AG is expected soon.
