Two Lewis County men destroyed a lean-to that had been rehabilitated just last fall in the Adirondack Park, according to DEC officials.

The DEC says it happened in May at Cage Lake in Northern Herkimer County.

The two men who were fishing and camping with friends shot holes in the lean-to with a handgun and ripped shingles off the roof, officials said.

A nearby outhouse was tipped over and officials found dozens of discarded beer cans. The cost of repairs is estimated at $1,200.

Shawn Roggie, 38, Croghan, is charged with criminal mischief, depositing rubbish or waste on state land and destroying a sign, structure or barrier.

David Lambert, 44, Lowville, is charged with criminal facilitation and depositing rubbish or waste on state land.

Both men will face the charges in Town of Webb court.

Volunteers involved in the Lean2Rescue effort, along with DEC, had fixed the lean-to last fall.

They should have to do community service in someplace like NYC so they can appreciate where they live. What surprised me were their ages. 38 and 44? How proud these loser's families must be.
