Watertown (Nathan Lehman WTNY) --  Last night the state DEC met with representatives of Watertown's northside over possible pollution.

The closed door meeting was the first between the two sides since the issue became highly publicized last month with a public meeting at the Northside Improvement League. According to reports, both sides seemed satisfied with the meeting, which came following a letter written to the DEC by Mayor Jeff Graham.

At issue is contaminants found in the soil near a former landfill for the New York Air Brake. DEC studies done as recently as four years ago found the chemical DACE in parts of the northside. More meetings are planned.
