DNA evidence has tied a Jefferson County man to a November, 2008 burglary in Gouverneur, State Police say.

Investigators charged 24 year old Michael J. Cook with burglary - illegal entry with criminal intent.

The break in happened in November, 2008 at a private residence on the Kearney Road in the town of Gouverneur, police said.

Evidence recovered at the scene was processed for DNA and the recovered DNA profile was entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), which returned a match.

Cook was arraigned in Town of Fowler court and remanded to St. Lawrence County jail with bail set at $10,000.
