Jefferson County deputies, seeking to solve what might be termed the mystery of the missing motorcycle, issued a criminal summons to an Adams Center man Wednesday morning.

Michael J. Baker, 37, of 19340 Cady Road was charged with Misapplication of Property when he arrived at the PSB at about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday.

According to information contained in a report from Jefferson County 911, Baker had sold a 1989 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle to 30-year-old Cheyenne J. Lajoie of Watertown last June.

In August Mr. Lajoie hired Baker to install some parts on the motorcycle and took the bike back to Baker’s residence.

According to the county report, Baker expressed an interest in buying back the motorcycle but Mr. Lajoie declined the offer.

Mr. Lajoie told investigators he remained in contact with Baker as the work progressed until November. Since then numerous attempts to contact Baker have been unsuccessful, Lajoie said.

When the owner of a body shop Mr. Lajoie hired to paint the motorcycle went to the Baker residence to pick up the bike, Baker allegedly claimed he no longer had it.

Investigators believe the motorcycle was towed to an unknown location.

Baker is to answer the charge in Town of Hounsfield Court on April 9th.
