SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Prepare for that long walk from your car, through the packed parking lots, to the shops at Destiny USA this holiday shopping season. Staff told NewsChannel 9 on Sunday that shoppers are packing the stores earlier than usual this year.
General Manager Rob Schoekeck said Destiny USA doubled its staff from last year to keep up with the growing number of customers.
“More people, more trash to empty, more bathrooms to take care of, all kinds of different things,” said Schoekeck.
New stores, restaurants and activity centers seem to be attracting visitors earlier this year. A quick look outside is proof of that.
“We're seeing people from further away. We can tell that by the license plates. A lot of Canadian license plates in the parking lot. So, a lot of activity, a lot of fun,” said Schoekeck.
This weekend was the earliest mall staff ever had to help direct traffic throughout the lots.
