A downstate man was injured Sunday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle during a snowstorm on Interstate 81.

State troopers say that 56-year-old Jay Barrows of Yorktown Heights had gone off of I-81 into the median in the southbound lane in the Town of Adams. Barrows got out and was standing near his vehicle when he was struck by 57-year-old Charles Burlingame of Altmar. Burlingame was attempting to slow down when he lost control, according to troopers.

Barrows was transported to a waiting State police helicopter in Pulaski and flown to SUNY Upstate Medical Center for non-life threatening leg injuries.
