Problems with the new election machines in St. Lawrence County have prevented updated figures in the 23rd congressional district race.

With 93 percent of the vote count complete, Democrat Bill Owens continues to hold more than a 5,000 vote edge over Conservative Doug Hoffman.

That's about 49 percent to 45 percent. Republican Dede Scozzafava holds about 6 percent of the vote total.

There are over 10,000 absentee ballots yet to be counted, according to reports.

The outstanding votes didn't stop Hoffman from conceding the race early Wednesday morning, and Owens then claimed victory.
