It won’t be long now until downtown Watertown is transformed into the stage for the epic adventurally FIREBALL Run.
Friday morning, the Greater Watertown-North Country Chamber of Commerce (GWNC) met with downtown business owners, informing them of the great opportunity to market themselves with the national audience.
“We held the meeting today to let downtown businesses, and businesses in general, know the FIREBALL Run is coming to town and that they can get involved and really make a fun day out of it,” said Kylie Peck, FIREBALL Run event coordinator through the GWNC Chamber.
The FIREBALL Run Adventurally is a national live event and film series, headquartered and produced by NBC Universal Studios. The 8-day, 15 city, 2,500 mile interactive road rally supports the Race to Recover America’s Missing Children, but is also a great marketing opportunity for destination cities, like Watertown.
Team Focus, headed by Erica Leonard of Leonard Printing, and Team Frontenac, with driver Mike Colello of Crystal Springs, will be heading out on the road with business logo’s plastered across their vehicles. Many local businesses will gain national exposure of their logo during the race across the Northeast coast.
The day of the race, downtown Watertown from Sterling to Stone Street will be closed to welcome the racers, help them complete their tasks and show the world what downtown Watertown has to offer. Businesses will be able to have booths, sales and expose their products to the racers, visitors and fellow business owners.
According to Mrs. Peck, that is the focus- bringing exposure to our many businesses, boosting the economy downtown and exposing the world to Watertown.
