Fatal Accident New Year's Eve in Potsdam
Potsdam (WTNY) -- New York State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in St. Lawrence County New Year's Eve.
Police say it happened on Monday afternoon on Rt. 11 in the Town of Potsdam. Police say 63 year old Anna Manning of Parishville was heading eastbound when she briefly took her eyes off the road to look at something in the vehicle when she veered into the other lane, striking a second vehicle head on. That other driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 66 year old Lawrence Waggstaff Jr of Winthrop.
Manning was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital to be treated for a lacerated liver.
Charges in the case are pending.
