Fatal accident in Chaumont takes the life of a Gouverneur man

Chaumont (Nathan Lehman WTNY) -- A Gouverneur man is dead following an accident that occurred Thursday afternoon in the Village of Chaumont. 

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department says it happened at around 3:15 pm and involved an employee of Ryan's Tree Service. 

Thirty nine year old Ronald Watson was working alone and grinding a stump when he became pinned between the operator's protective shield and an adjacent building. Watson was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The investigation is continuing and involved the Jefferson County Medical Examiner's Office and O.S.H.A.
