Fire damaged a trailer home in the Village of Glenfield this afternoon after a furnace pipe malfunctioned.

The fire at the Randy Smith residence at 6117 River Street was reported by Pamela Hardy, another resident of the home, just before 4:30 this afternoon. Glenfield Fire with mutual aid from Brantingham and Martinsburg responded.

The home suffered major fire damage to one side and lesser damage to the contents on that side. The home was not covered by insurance.

The cause was traced to a faulty furnace stove pipe, which caught fire to the ceiling.

No injuries were reported.
