A former Fort Drum soldier was among nine U.S. casualties in Afghanistan on Tuesday, according to a newspaper in Missouri.
Stjoenews.net said the soldier is 27 year old Issac Jackson, of Lathrop and Plattsburg, Missouri.
Jackson had recently transferred from Fort Drum to Fort Lewis, Washington, before being deployed to Afghanistan, the paper reported.
In 2006 he was quoted in Fort Drum's Mountaineer newspaper about his unit's heroics in the mountains of northern Afghanistan.
So far the military hasn't officially released the names of Tuesday's casualties.
