Watertown -- The New York State Police arrested 20 year old Russell Marcum, a soldier formerly assigned to Fort Drum, for charges related to a series of burglaries committed last September.
Marcum is charged with numerous burglaries at local storage facilities, namely U-Lock-It Storage and ABC Storage and other crimes at privately owned properties and locations. As a result of the investigation, Marcum was charged with 3 counts of Burglary in the 3rd Degree, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (firearms) 4th, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th, and 1 count of False Written Statement.
At his arraignment in Town of Watertown Court, Marcum was further arraigned on the charge of Burglary in the 2nd degree stemming from a burglary at Preferred Power Sports.
Upon completion of the arraignment, the matter was held for Grand Jury, and Marcum was returned to the Herkimer County Jail by the New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad, where Marcum is being detained on further burglary charges in that county. Bail was set on the Jefferson County Cases at $15,000.
