Fort Drum soldier dies of combat wounds

A Fort Drum soldier has died of wounds suffered December 3rd when insurgents attacked his unit with an IED in Logar Province, Afghanistan.

Sgt. Dennis J. Hansen, 31, of Panama City, Florida, died December 7th at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

Sgt. Hansen deployed in January with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team. His previous deployments included 16 months in Afghanistan and four months in Iraq in 2004.

He joined the military in 1996 and arrived at Fort Drum in July, 2005. He is survived by his wife, two sons and daughter.
