A traffic stop by city police in Watertown resulted in the arrests of four individuals on drug charges Tuesday afternoon.
At 3:30 p.m., in the 100 block of Massey Street, an officer pulled over a car driven by Desiree Lynn Smith, 18, of 31285 Garnerville, Evans Mills.
The officer reported some marijuana and a hypodermic needle were in plain view in the vehicle. Smith and three passengers were taken into custody.
Smith was charged with Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 3rd Degree and an equipment violation.
Keith A. Trombley, 24, of 736 W. Main Street, apt 4, Watertown was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Needle and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
Police said Trombley was in possession of a plastic baggy containing powered cocaine.
Chelsea Marie Osborn, 20, also of 736 W. Main Street, apt 4, Watertown was charged with Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Needle and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
Tiffanie Francine Merrifield, 24, of 602 Riverside Drive, apt 191, Clayton was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Needle and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
Investigators said Merrifield was in possession of a piece of cotton containing liquid heroin.
Merrifield was arrested on Sunday, accused of stealing toothpaste and tooth brushes from a Watertown store in March.
All four occupants of the vehicle were transported to the PSB.
Smith and Merrifield were held on $500 bail each, pending arraignment this morning in City of Watertown Court.
Trombley and Osborn were released after they each posted $500 bail.
Osborne is to appear in city court on May 6th. Trombley is to answer the charges in city court on May 7th.
