A woman is hospitalized after her boyfriend assaulted her in the St. Lawrence County town of Fowler, according to State Police.
Investigators say 47 year old David C. Butler grabbed the woman by the throat during an argument and slammed her head against the spoiler of a vehicle, fracturing her skull.
The woman was taken to E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur and later transferred to University Hospital in Syracuse.
Butler, charged with 2nd degree assault, was arraigned and committed to St. Lawrence County jail with bail set at $5,000.
