Fire destroyed a garage in Brasher Falls early this morning.
The blaze at the building owned by Douglas Russell at 51 Congress Street broke out at around 5:48 am. Brasher-Winthrop Fire with mutual aid from Helena and West Stockholm battled the blaze for several hours.
The garage is a total loss, some surrounding building were also damaged. The building is covered by insurance.
Only one injury was reported, that being the wife of the owner who was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital with chest pains.
A DEC Spill Response Team also responded to clean up a 100-200 gallon fuel oil spill.
