Watertown residents will have to pay a little more for their trash removal.
Starting on July 1st, trash stickers and tote costs are increasing slightly. Garbage stickers will now cost $3, an increase of 50 cents. Trash bin services will increase as the following:
- 32 gallon $45.50 per quarter
- 64 gallon $68.25 per quarter
- 96 gallon $91.00 per quarter
Trash Bin Deposit:
- 32 gallon $5.00 deposit
- 64 gallon $7.00 deposit
- 96 gallon $10.00 deposit
“This is not a profit machine for the City,” said Elliott Nelson, assistant to the City Manager. “We are trying to keep costs in line.”
Mr. Nelson told MyABC50.com that the increase in costs are to supplement the increases in pensions, dump tipping fees, health care for personnel, and other costs the city has seen go up.
Since the programs creation in 1999 there has not been any increases in costs to residents. With the increase the City of Watertown will see a $134,000 rise in revenue.
All previously purchased stickers and bags will be acknowledged.
