Gouverneur (Nathan Lehman WTNY) -- After a controversial eight months in office, the Gouverneur Village Mayor has resigned.
Chris Miller officially announced he is leaving the office Wednesday. The reigns have now been handed to Deputy Mayor Ronald McDougall.
Since winning the office last fall, MIller has faced numerous negative reports in the media dealing with his personal life and financial situation. Voters also learned after the election that Miller was a felon, having been convicted of drug and theft charges.
The Village Board is expected to discuss the situation at their meeting next week.
