An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire at a Gouverneur home, which resulted in a total loss of property as well as the death of the family dog.
The Gouverneur fire department was dispatched to the Washburn home, located at 1545 Lead Mine Road,at approximately 7:26 a.m. on Thursday.
The Washburn family also suffered the loss of their garage and Ford Focus vehicle.
The Gouverneur Fire Department was assisted by the Oxbow, Heuvelton and Morristown Fire Departments.
