A Gouverneur woman was killed when her car skidded on the ice into the oncoming lane in the town of Antwerp, State Police say.
The victim is 49 year old Donna N. Niles, of the Little Bow Road.
Police say Niles was westbound on County Route 22 in Antwerp Thursday morning when her vehicle lost traction on an ice-covered section of the highway.
Her vehicle collided with one driven by 19 year old Bridgette Sharlow, of Chaumont.
Niles was taken by Theresa ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.
Neither Sharlow nor her adult passenger were hurt.
