Hackett's Hardware will close two more of its stores, according to local newspapers including the Watertown Daily Times and the Daily Courier Observer.

The Hackett's store in the St. Lawrence Centre Mall in Massena closed abruptly Thursday.  Its leftover inventory will go to the Gouverneur store, where a liquidation sale will be held. The Gouverneur store is expected to close later in the summer.

The Ogdensburg-based chain announced earlier that its Canton store would close.

Earlier in the year, it closed stores in Watertown and Pulaski.

Hackett's is left with stores in Ogdensburg, Potsdam, Sackets Harbor and Tupper Lake.

The chain has been struggling since running into credit problems in 2008.
