Northern New York -- On the weather map, a cold front is draped across Lake Ontario and northern part of New York.  This front is forecast to stall, or stop moving, near the NYS Thruway this afternoon.  The front will be the focal point for spotty showers and thunderstorms today as highs reach the upper 80's.

More of the same for Saturday as the dog days of summer bring more heat and humidity and high Temperatures approaching 90 degrees.

Sunday will likely be the third day of near 90 degree weather as winds increase from the southwest, officially making this stretch of hot weather a heat wave.  The increase in wind speed will result from a strengthening area of low pressure that is forecast to move through southern and eastern Canada.  Additionally, the cold front associated with the low will extend south from its center and is forecast to impact the region on Sunday and Sunday night.  We’ll need to keep a sharp weather eye on thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening severe due to strong winds aloft.

Look for cooler and less humid air to arrive Monday, with warming temperatures possible next Tuesday and Wednesday.
