Watertown— The “North Country Goes Green Irish Festival” had record turnouts this past weekend, according to Secretary and organizer for the Irish Festival, Patti Shaughnessy.

The festival sold out of almost all of the food that they had including, roughly 850 pounds of corn beef. The Willoughby Brothers was a sold out show and more people came out to the Irish festival than in the past. The Ms. Ireland pageant was also larger than it has been in previous years.

“People really came out to support the Irish Festival” said Ms. Shaughnessy, “they ate and watched all the shows. All of the shows were very, very busy.” According to Shaughnessy, every show that was put on by “step dancers” was nearly to capacity.

The Irish Festival Parade on Sunday drew in a huge crowd with face painting and lots of activities for children. A portion of the money raised will go towards next year’s festival. However, most of the proceeds will be donated to the following charities:

·      Project Children North

·      Wounded Warrior

·      USO

·      Credo Foundation

·      Urban Mission

·      Various Food Pantries within the Tri-County area
