Watertown (WWTI) -- The North Country can expect another round of Lake Effect Snow to develop tonight. An inch or 2
is expected this evening and up to 7 inches of snow is possible tomorrow in more persistent Lake Effect Snow bands. Winds will shift to the Southwest bringing Lake Snow as far north as Massena tonight and Saturday.

Colder air returns overnight tonight as well, expect overnight lows to be in the single digits for most of Northern New York.

High winds and blowing snow caused several schools to close yesterday. The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority shut down access to the bridge for smaller commercial vehicles for several hours due to high winds.

WEEKEND FORECAST:

Today: Cloudy and cold with highs around 15. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph, becoming west with gusts up to 30 mph.

Tonight: lake effect snow showers becoming likely overnight. Accumulation 1 to 2 inches in the most persistent snows. Lows 5 to 10 above. West winds 10 to 20 mph, becoming southwest. Chance of snow 70 percent.

Saturday:
Lake Effect snow. Additional accumulation of 4 to 7 inches possible in the most persistent snows. Highs in the lower 20s. Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent.

Saturday Night:
a chance of snow showers overnight. Lows 10 to 15. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming south 10 mph or less. Chance of snow 70 percent.

Sunday:
50 percent chance of light snow. Highs in the mid 20s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming south.
