Albany (WTNY) -- Don't expect state leaders to push a gun buyback program as a way to get firearms off the streets as gun control discussions continue.

The "New York Post" says state officials likely could not afford such a program, which would likely cost New York at least one billion dollars. Governor Cuomo recently suggested that confiscation of military-style weapons could be an option, but has conceded that the owners of such weapons would have to be properly compensated financially.
