Letter carriers across the nation will be picking up non-perishable foods at mailboxes on Saturday
It's time to raid the pantry for a good cause. Letter carriers across the nation will be picking up non-perishable foods at mailboxes on Saturday in the annual Stamp Out Hunger effort. The letter carriers are aiming to top last year's collection of more than 70 million pounds of food. More than 200,000 postal workers will be gathering items such as canned foods, pasta or cereal from near mailboxes. What's known as the nation's largest single-day food drive is now in its 20th year. All food items picked up in the Watertown area this weekend will be split between the CAPC and the Watertown Urban Mission.
