The second time wasn't the charm for a map showing Lewis County's ATV trail system.
And there won't be a third, as county officials have given up and will instead put the map on-line.
In May, a private map-maker working with the county and the county's ATV association published a map that was riddled with errors, said county trail coordinator Robert Diehl.
A corrected map was vetted by the county, sent to the printer and returned with a brand new error, Diehl said.
The new error is in the form of an offshoot of the trail into the village of Constableville.
The offshoot doesn't exist and C-ville residents are dead set against having ATVs go into the village, Diehl said.
"This is inviting people to ride illegally," Diehl said. "We can't have that error on the map."
The county is asking businesses which already have the map to cross out the error, and further distribution of the map by the county will be discontinued, Diehl said.
Instead, the county will put a correct map on the
county website.
