Lightning catches barn on fire in the Town of Fowler
Fowler -- Firefighters from Gouverneur responded to a report of a barn fire in the Town of Fowler shortly after 5:00pm on Sunday.
It's believed that the fire was touched of by a lightning strike as a severe thunderstorm rumbled across the region.
Fire investigators are calling it a total loss however they did manage to keep the flames from spreading to a nearby barn, keeping the damage to only one building on the property.
The Barn located on County Route 22 is owned by William Siebels. Oxbow, Harrisville, Antwerp and Edwards Fire Departments all supplied mutual aid. Richville and Dekalb Fire Departments were on standby as the flames were extinguished.
