North Country (WTNY) -- A number of area schools are dealing with rumors of violence today in part due to the shootings in Connecticut one week ago.

Four more districts are known to have received threats. A student from Carthage was arrested for allegedly writing a bomb threat found in a high school bathroom yesterday.

Watertown Superintendent Terry Fralick released a statement saying the district has received several phone calls about someone bringing a gun to the high school or Case middle school. The claims have been investigated, but there has been no proof that a weapon was found.

South Jefferson, Gouverneur and Alexandria also received threats. Indian River received one earlier the week. Sackets Harbor and Madrid-Waddington also sent home letters in regards to safety earlier in the week.
