Watertown— It's a tradition for thousands of North Country residents and it just wouldn't be the Holidays without meeting up with good friends for a Tom & Jerry from The Crystal.
ABC50 spoke with some fans of the warm frothy treat who come to The Crystal between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve for their famous “Tom and Jerry”. This warm beverage has a secret, undisclosed recipe. Whatever the recipe is, every year during the holidays the quaint little restaurant located on Public Square is packed with people. One local, Denise Weatherhahn, says “There are often people lined out the door, just to come in and have a Tom and Jerry.”
91 year-old, Charles Groff has been coming to Watertown's oldest restaurant for over 60 years. Every year around the holidays, Mr. Groff comes in to warm up with a famous “Tom and Jerry.”
If you've never had a Tom & Jerry be warned, Brandy and Rum are two of the key ingredients for this festive toddy.
For those looking to relax and unwind after a long day of holiday shopping or a place to catch up with old friends, The Crystal on Public Square is a North Country treasure.
