"Major Deficiencies"; EJ Noble Hospital weighs their options
Gouverneur -- Meetings were held over the weekend among officials at E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur to try to come up with a plan of action following a decision from the New York State Department of Health that essentially closed down the facility on Friday.
Health Department officials Friday ordered the hospital's lab shut down, citing major deficiencies. The lab closure led to other hospital services to be shut down, including the emergency room. About 18 patients were sent to other nearby hospitals and emergency responders were told to take patients elsewhere. It could be weeks before the lab is reopened.
The hospital will be required to come up with a plan of correction, approved by the state. Some services are still be offered at the hospital.
