Waterown (Nathan Lehman WTNY) -- Following this week's city council meeting, Watertown Mayor Jeff Graham has sent out a letter to state officials, urging further attention on possible pollution on the city's northside.

Recent tests by the DEC have found chemicals such as TCE in soil in parts of the northside, but residents have accused the agency of being secretive and have called for additional testing. The polutant likely came from chemicals dumped in the ground by New York Air Break decades ago. In the letter, Graham says the city is looking for an "assertive outreach" by the DEC to these residents in a public forum to answer their questions.

At Tuesday night's City Council meeting residents of that part of town urged Council members to become involved in their fight to get more information on the issue.
