Cape Vincent -- More than a year has passed since
Mikel Odle was charged with fatally stabbing 51 year old Mary Burkman at her home in Cape Vincent. Friday afternoon, Odle was sentenced to 37 years to life in prison.
In April, 21 year old
Mikel Odle pleaded guilty to second degree murder in connection to the fatal stabbing incident that occurred back on May 21, 2011. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted first degree murder in connection with the stabbing of Amber Englebert at the same address as well as first degree reckless endangerment for putting his 11 month old daughter in danger while trying to flee police in a motor vehicle. Englebert is the child's mother while Burkman was the child's grandmother.
