Today, the greatest risk for wet weather looks to be near and south of the Thruway. However, the threat for on/off showers should be with all of Central New York tonight. Showers tomorrow are expected to be scattered in nature and perhaps confined to the book ends of the day…early and late. In between, clouds and chiefly dry weather should rule. In spite of the clouds, high temperatures should mange to reach near or even exceed 50 degrees.
As for Sunday, Central New York should be in between two systems…the cold front that will have moved through on Saturday and a developing storm over the mid-section of the country that’s expected to impact Central New York Sunday night and Monday. Consequently, we should start the day with sunshine, along with cooler temperatures when compared to Saturday, with clouds increasing during the afternoon. By sunset, the threat for rain will increase and eventually become likely Sunday night into Monday. With the aforementioned storm passing to our west, very mild air will briefly arrive Sunday night into Monday morning on the heels of brisk south winds.
During the day Monday, temperatures are expected to fall as the associated cold front moves through the region. Colder air will arrive Monday night and Tuesday and likely trigger at least some lake effect snow showers. Thereafter, the outlook calls for seasonable temperatures and dry weather into the rest of the work week.
