A portion of the Massena-Cornwall bridge has reopened to some traffic after being closed for nearly a week.

On Saturday, the north span was reopened to:
  • Native American business owners who have employees residing in Cornwall
  • External service providers and contractors providing a service or making deliveries to residents of Cornwall Island
  • Those using any Mohawk Council of Akwesasne facilities
Meanwhile, Akwesasne officials received word of another bridge blockade on the Skyway Bridge between Belleville and Kingston, Ontario.

The bridge there will remain occupied until the Canadian government expands talks about arming border guards at the Port of Entry on Kawehnoke, Akwesasne officials said.

The two spans of the Massena-Cornwall bridge were closed on June 1st after Canadian Customs vacated their facility on Cornwall Island and it was secured by the Mohawks.
