Canton -- The Canton Police Department is working with Police Officials from the West Long Branch Police Department in New Jersey in an effort to solve a stolen credit card scam.
On July 26th, members of the Canton Police Department were told that an unknown individual was using stolen credit cards and credit card numbers to illegally purchase high-end electronics from various outlets across the United States. A large number of the overall purchases were being sent to a residence in the Village of Canton.
Investigators interviewed the resident and found property and merchandise valued at $37,000. The items were then turned over to Canton Police and have been returned to the various vendors.
Police are not releasing the name of the cooperating witness or that person's residence, stating that the investigation is ongoing.
Many of the items recovered were Computers, Home entertainment systems, personal clothing items, cameras, footwear, watches and jewelry.
