No new Farm Bill
(Nathan Lehman WTNY) -- Republican leaders in the House of Representatives confirmed what most already knew on Thursday. There will be no new Farm Bill before the November election.
The Senate overwhelmingly and quickly passed its version of the Farm Bill this summer, but the House version has not been brought to the floor since it passed in committee.
As the law currently stands, if no new bill is in place by September 30, all agriculture programs from the government revert back to the 1949 Farm Bill.
