Friday morning at approximately 8:00am, State Police were called to investigate a suspicious acting male attempting to drop off a package to a teacher at the Norwood-Norfolk Central School.

Police say 60 year old Steven Wells, Norfolk, was found at the middle school office wearing a shoulder handgun holster with a black Desert Eagle BB pistol beneath his jacket.

According to State Troopers, Wells arrived at the school asking to see a staff member to leave her a package.  School administrators denied Wells access to the school and law enforcement then was notified.

Due to the lock down procedures initiated by school administration at the beginning of the incident, Wells was not able to gain access the interior of the school and no students were placed in any type of danger as a result of the incident.

The staff member Wells was attempting to see indicated to police that he had been engaging in stalking and harassment type behavior against her for the past several days.

Wells was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Harassment 1st Degree, and Stalking 4th Degree.  He was arraigned in the town of Norfolk court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.

An order of protection was issued against Wells.
