North Country fugitives arrested in Ilion

Illion, NY -- On Thursday, State Police in Herkimer responded to a tip that two individuals wanted by the State Police in Watertown on charges of Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the 3rd Degree were possibly in the Ilion area.

Information was relayed that the subjects may have stolen a vehicle in the Indian Lake area and might possibly be in possession of a stolen handgun. The individuals were identified as 27 year old Hugh J. Broadbent III, 103 N. Orchard St. Watertown & 29 year old Andrea L. Lynch, Theresa. Lynch was additionally wanted by the US Marshalls Service for mail fraud. Yesterday, Police were alerted that Lynch would possibly be going to the Kinney Drug Store in Ilion to pick up a Western Union wire transfer. Surveillance was set up and when Lynch appeared to pick up the money at approximately 5:00PM she was immediately arrested by plainclothes State Police BCI & Ilion Police Department Investigators.

Following the apprehension of Lynch several locations in Ilion were checked with no positive results. At approximately 6:30PM Broadbent was spotted by a State Police Investigator walking near the Ilion Fire Station. Upon seeing police Broadbent fled on foot and was apprehended near the Ilion Police Department after a short foot chase. Both subjects were taken to the State Police barracks in Herkimer and subsequently turned over to Watertown State Police.
