Ogdensburg man could face 20 years in prison for making fraudulent tax claims

Ogdensburg (WTNY) -- An Ogdensburg man is facing federal charges involving fraudulent tax claims made to the IRS.

Sixty two year old Glenn Unger is accused of filing numerous false and fraudulent IRS forms seeking refunds. The indictment alleges that between 2007 and 2011, Unger filed numerous false and fraudulent claims with the IRS for payment of a refund of taxes totaling approximately $36 million. No refunds were ever issued to Unger.

He is also accused of evading paying income taxes and filing a fictitious obligation. If found guilty of the charges, Unger faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of 250 thousand dollars.
