Some light flurries from the early morning will quickly begin to fade as high pressure builds over Central New York through Sunday morning. Areas to the southeast of Lake Ontario may be slower to see sunshine as lake enhanced cloud cover may stick around through midday. Elsewhere, blue skies are to be expected.
Sunday temperatures will still be on the chilly side in the low 20s, but given the sun and the lack of wind and other activity, it should make for a great winter day. Consider it a quiet break before a storm system causes changes to our weather early on in the week.
Low pressure will thicken our cloud cover Sunday night and introduce snow showers on Monday morning. It is likely that most will see around 1-2” of snow fall into Monday afternoon. A warm front will then lift through Central New York, changing snow into an icy mix. We are expecting to see sleet Monday afternoon, as well as freezing rain. Any untreated roads may become very slippery during the PM commute on Monday.
The warm up continues and by Tuesday we’re in the mid 40s, only seeing rain showers. We’ll stay mild through Wednesday before a cold front knocks the temperatures down at the end of the week, reintroducing lake effect snow showers.
