Congressman Bill Owens will serve on two subcommittees of the House Armed Services Committee, his office announced Monday.
The Plattsburgh Democrat has been named to the Air and Land Forces Subcommittee and the Strategic Forces Subcommittee.
"I am eager to get to work protecting and strengthening Fort Drum, and joining my colleagues to ensure that our fighting men and women have everything they need to complete their mission," Owens said in a statement.
Congressman Owens also serves on the Homeland Security Committee.
Meanwhile, Owens has hired Stephen Hunt II as his District Director. Hunt will work from an office in Watertown.
Hunt was previously employed by the New York State Department of State as a local representative for Governor David Paterson and previous Governor Eliot Spitzer.
