The result much closer, but the outcome still the same in the race for the Congressional seat in the North County.

Democrat Bill Owens has been elected to another two year term in Washington, holding off a challenge from Republican Matt Doheny for the second straight election. In unofficial results, Owens leads Doheny 50 to 48%. Doheny conceded the election late last night. It was very much the close race that political experts and polls predicted it would be leading to yesterday's vote.

Owens will go back to Washington still in the minority party as the House of Representatives remains in Republican hands.
