Potsdam police have filed more charges against a Parishville man arrested earlier this month for damage to the Parishville-Hopkinton School done while he was allegedly driving drunk.

21-year-old Michael J. Russell was initially arrested by State police on March 17th after he allegedly drove his 2001 Chevrolet Impala into the south-east parking lot at Parishville-Hopkinton School, and while there proceeded to do several "donuts "rutting up a grassy area. He then collided with the south-east corner of the school, which took out a four inch section of the brick wall and loosened several layers of the wall.

Potsdam police filed charges against Russell on March 16th for two counts of 2nd degree Criminal Mischief for alleged damage done to several parked vehicles in the Main Street parking lot in the Village on March 13th, when he was alleged to have intentionally rammed his vehicle into parked cars before leaving the scene.

Wednesday morning, Russell was additionally charged with three counts of 2nd degree Criminal Mischief, one count of 3rd degree Criminal Mischief, Reckless Driving, and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident for his actions in the parking lot. He was remanded back to St. Lawrence County Jail where he has been held since his initial arrest.

Russell was identified in the initial investigation as the result of a motor vehicle accident investigation the morning of March 16th, where he was arrested for DWI by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. He was charged with 4th degree Criminal Mischief and issued traffic tickets for Reckless Driving, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident for that incident.
