The monument to Ogdensburg founder Abbe Picquet is headed back to its first home on Lighthouse Point.

Since the 1960s, the towering obelisk has stood a block away on the grounds of Notre Dame after being moved from its original site.

Restoring the monument to the Point has long been a goal of the Fort LaPresentation Association, which is working toward building a replica of the fort that Picquet constructed in 1749.

The schedule calls for the obelisk to be disassembled on Monday. On Tuesday it will be moved to Lighthouse Point and re-erected in time for the July 4th weekend.

It will be rededicated as part of Founders Day weekend in Ogdensburg the weekend of July 18th.

The newly-placed monument will also have a time capsule buried nearby and have historical plaques.
