Plans to renovate the aviary at the New York State Zoo at Thompson Park have been given approval by the Watertown City Council. Members of the council were presented with the revised plans last night during their work session. The plans are to convert the aviary space into a learning center to be used by the zoo. The total estimated costs for the project came in close to $530,000. The project will now go out to bid and work could begin as soon as this August.
